Manchester Pride

Village Bakers are proud to be part of strong and vibrant LGBT+ community. The Manchester Pride Parade is a special time for us to join forces, wave our rainbow flags and show our pride in our group and in our community.

Village Bakers have been part of the Manchester Pride Parade since 2013 and each year we march the streets in costume to celebrate all things Gay and all things Cake.

2013 – “Acceptable in the 80’s”

Whilst some of our bakers can barely remember the 80’s some of them were out partying hard for at least part of the decade that saw the fall of the Berlin Wall and some very interesting baking. We made sure everyone knew that baking was just as acceptable in the 80’s as it is now. Forget relaxing, Frankie Said BAKE!

2014 – “Love is in the Air”

Love was in the air for the 2014 parade and the Village Bakers took to the skies to deliver their love for baking to the watching crowds so Village Bakers Airways took off for a one way trip to see their love for the crowds, for each other and for cake.

2015 – “Devotion”

We all have something that we are devoted to whether it be your hobbies, your pets or your family. The bakers are no different and we took this opportunity to show the world our devotion to cake, cream horns and the sisters of perpetual baking Delia, Fanny and Mary.

2016 – “Once Upon A Time”

2016 saw the Village Bakers walk into the woods to find the gingerbread house that enticed Hansel and Gretel away from their families and enjoy out very own fairy tale.

2017 – “The Class of 2017 the Graduation”

2017 saw the Village Bakers head back to school, and of course we had to dress up as the school dinner ladies. So marching the streets of Manchester with our pink custard and jam roly poly we embraced all things Dinner Ladies, and our efforts where recognised when we won the award for “The Best Walking Entry” in the parade.

2018 – “The Greatest Cake Show”

Its safe to say Village Bakers always puts on a good show, and 2018 was no exception as we entered the parade as The Greatest Cake Show on Earth. Walking the streets with our circus clowns, cakes, buns and even our very own big top tent.
